Frequently Asked Questions

How long is each appointment?
Please allow 75-90 minutes for your fist visit and one hour for follow up visits. At your first appointment, we will mutually decide how many visits it is likely you may need to address your goals.

Are all of my services provided by Cheryl Van Demark every appointment?
Yes, your services will always be 1:1 with me.

What should I wear?
Please wear clothing that allows you to move freely.

Will I have to do yoga postures as part of my treatment?
Not unless you are interested to learn about the practice of Yoga. Otherwise, we work with a broad variety of therapeutic exercises and relaxation techniques according to yur interests and what equipment you have available to you to use within your home or gym setting.

Will I need to bring a yoga mat if I schedule for yoga therapy?
I supply all the props, but you are welcome to bring along whatever you would like to
make yourself comfortable.

If I wish to receive yoga therapy, do I have to be flexible before I can benefit ?
No, although people frequently express this misconception.  Any movement approach we choose to use will be adapted to meet your present level of flexibility, strength, balance and comfort.

If I have chronic pain, will your therapeutic services help me?
As an integrative physical therapist, I work with you to learn how your nervous system has uniquely adapted in the presence of persistent pain.  Together, we work towards helping you notice how your unique experience of pain may have created unhelpful / maladaptive changes in the way your nervous system directs you to move, breathe, think and feel throughout your day. Your observations and interest determine which self-care tools we select to help you learn to relax what is too tense, energize what is too sluggish, shift your mood, clear brain fog and re-frame movement strategies that may be perpetuating your pain experience. We also work together to gradually help you re-establish enjoyable physical activity.

Will my insurance cover this?
Physical therapy is covered benefit under most health insurance plans, whereas yoga therapy, Reiki and bodywork are often not included. You can read your policy to determine what is and is not eligible for reimbursement. My fee is for the time I spend with you and is the same across all of my therapeutic services.  To keep my fees reasonable and at a flat rate, I choose not contract with any health insurance companies. If you wish to pursue reimbursement from your insurance, you will be provided with an invoice for the services you have received. Health In Motion LLC accepts cash, check, debit or credit.
